During the first visit, the vice-president of the IWF inspected the halls for training of athletes in weightlifting and other Olympic sports, sports rehabilitation halls and gyms, as well as construction sites for the future sports facilities for the Olympics.
It will be recalled that on May 30 this year, the president of the Weightlifting Federation of the Republic of Kazakhstan - Zhanat Tussupbekov, was elected to be the new vice-president of the International Weightlifting Federation (IWF) during the IWF Election Congress, held in Bangkok, Thailand.
Within the framework of the current visit, an agreement was reached on the interaction of the FTA of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the FTA of Japan on conducting training camp of Kazakhstan athletes at the base of the Japan Olympic Training Center. The camp will be organized several times in 2019 and 2020, before the Olympics according to a special schedule to ensure the best adaptation of Kazakhstani weightlifters. Both sides decided to strengthen cooperation and exchange of experience between trainers, as well as specialists in medicine and nutrition.
In addition, the Japanese got interested in studying the experience of the FTA of the Republic of Kazakhstan in organizing major sports events, noting the successful holding of the World Weightlifting Championships in Almaty in 2014, and the participation of the IWF Marketing Commission in the organization of the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio.
The inspection of the Olympic facilities was timed to IWF Vice-President participation in the meetings of the Executive Committee and the IWF Annual Congress on June 13-15. The main issues of the IWF events were issues of development, marketing and strengthening of the anti-doping discipline, as well as preparations for the 2017 World Championships in Anaheim (USA) from November 28 to December 5 of this year.
Initiatives implemented by the president of the FTA of the Republic of Kazakhstan have significantly contributed to the development of sports activities in those countries where weightlifting needs support. The work carried out in Kazakhstan was awarded high international recognition, including initiatives aimed at strengthening anti-doping discipline, mass involvement of children in sports and improving the conditions of the training process throughout the country. It is also should be noted that the FTA of the Republic of Kazakhstan has demonstrated excellent results in coordinating the marketing campaign at the past Olympic Games in Rio 2016. In 2016, the FTA RK also actively contributed to the first international broadcast of the Asian Weightlifting Championship.
