TUSSUPBEKOV ZHANAT

TUSSUPBEKOV Zhanat Rashidovich has professional experience for more than 20 years, 15 of which are in the public service, on senior management positions in the oil and gas industry companies of Kazakhstan and social and diplomatic activities.

He also has many years of managerial experience in the development and promotion of sports in the Republic of Kazakhstan, as well as on international level. He is one of the representatives of Kazakhstan in the management of an international sports organization.

  • EDUCATION:

Mr. Tussupbekov is a graduate of Karaganda State University named after E.A. Buketov (1998), majoring in «Jurisprudence», qualification – lawyer, Eurasian National University named after L.N. Gumilev (2007), majoring in «Accounting and Audit», qualification – accountant, and also graduated from the Kazakh University of Technology and Business (2012) with Master’s degree in Engineering and Technology.

  • PROFESSIONAL BACKGROUND:

From 1997 to 2004, working in various positions at the Department of Internal Affairs for the Karaganda Region, the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Drug Enforcement Agency, and the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

2004-2005, by the Decree of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan N.A. Nazarbayev, he was appointed as a judge of the Regional Court of Akmola region.

 From August 2005 to November 2006, he held the position of  the Executive Director of KazMunayGas Trading House JSC, where he oversaw the organization of legal work in the Company, including legal support for the activities of the Company and monitoring compliance with the law in its activities; ensuring compliance with the conditions of the procedure for concluding contracts, monitoring their implementation; organization of public procurement of goods, works and services to ensure the efficient operation of the Company.

From November 2006 to August 2007, he held the position of Deputy General Director of Altyn Alem Astana LLP, where he led financial activities and business management, monitoring the implementation of current and perspective plans, general management, legal support of the Partnership.

From August 2007 to May 2008, he held the position of General Director of Nomad Company LLP, where he managed the Partnership and led the business supervision, ensuring the implementation of the current and future plans of the Partnership.

From May 2008 to April 2009, he held the position of acting Deputy General Director of KazMunayGas Trading House JSC, within the framework of which he provided effective management of the Company’s production facilities and organization of labor safety in structural divisions.

From April 2009 to February 2011, he held the position of General Director of KazMunayGas – Onimderi JSC.

From February 2011 to January 2012, he held the position of General Director (Chairman of the Executive Board) of KazMunayGas – Refining and Marketing JSC.

From February to May 2012, he held the position of Advisor to the Chairman of the Executive Board of NC KazMunayGas JSC.

From November 2013 to September 2016, Mr. Tussupbekov held the position of Managing Director for external processing and marketing of NC KazMunayGas JCS, where he was responsible for ensuring the effective management of production facilities within the framework of foreign investment.

From May 22, 2012 to December 2019, CEO of KMG International N.V. Group. Under the leadership of Zh. Tussupbekov, the KMG International Group achieved record financial and operational results, becoming one of the most successful oil companies and taking its rightful place among the most important players in the Black Sea and Mediterranean regions.

Mr. Tussupbekov has sound experience in the sports management field (boxing, weightlifting), viewing this activity as an opportunity to promote, develop and maintain a healthy lifestyle, and considering it an honorable and responsible mission.

In 2013, he was elected as a President of the Weightlifting Federation of the Republic of Kazakhstan, where he does a lot of work to develop and promote this Olympic sport. In March 2018, he was re-elected to this position www.wfrk.kz. In prior years, he headed the Boxing Federation of the Karaganda region for many years – one of the forges of the Kazakhstani boxing school.

Since September 2015, he is a member of the Executive Board of the National Olympic Committee of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

In May 2017, Mr. Tussupbekov was elected as a Vice-President of the International Weightlifting Federation, where he continues to work actively at this time. He is a member of the IWF Executive Board, as well as the Chairman of the Marketing Commission of this organization.

 Since 2017, he has been Honorary Consul of the Republic of Georgia in the Karaganda region of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

  • GOVERNMENTAL AND DEPARTMENTAL AWARDS:

In 2016, by the Decree of the First President of the Republic of Kazakhstan, he was awarded the state award – the Order of Honor. He was also awarded the special badge of the Ministry of Culture and Sports of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the badge ‘Honored Worker of the Oil and Gas Sector’ of the Ministry of Energy of the Republic of Kazakhstan. For his fruitful professional  activity, high operational and financial performance in the oil and gas sector, he was awarded with the departmental medal “For contribution to the development of the oil and gas industry” – from the Ministry of Energy of the Republic of Kazakhstan (08.2019), the Jubilee badge “120 years of Kazakhstani oil” – from the National Company KazMunayGas JSC (08.2019), the medal “in honor of the celebration of the 120th anniversary of Kazakhstani oil” – from the Kazakhstani Association of organizations of the oil & gas and energy complex – Kazenergy (08.2019).

For his contribution to the development of KMG International, to the economy of Romania and for strengthening the Romanian-Kazakh relations, he was awarded with an honorary degree – doctor of the State University of Timisoara (Timisoara, Romania) (06.12.2019).
